Phyllis Mayberry Scholar Award
The Phyllis Mayberry Scholar Student Award, which recognizes distinction in academic and extracurricular programs, is awarded every year to a Reynoldsburg student with special needs who has achieved excellence in all academic endeavors or through extracurricular programming. The award was named after Phyllis Mayberry because of her long and dedicated service to the school district. Phyllis was the longest serving employee in the entire district until her retirement in 2025. A long-time bus driver, Phyllis transported THE most precious cargo, our children, for some 38 years! The REF sponsors the award and scholarship each year, helping recognize outstanding students and helping scholars realize their dreams.
8th Grade Washington D.C. Scholarship
Each year, 8th-grade students from Reynoldsburg travel to Washington D.C. as part of their academic and cultural experiences in the district. The trip gives students the opportunity to experience American history and government beyond the classroom. Seeing national monuments, memorials and historic sites firsthand helps students connect what they have learned to the people and events that shape our country. Each year, the REF awards partial scholarships to help students take part in this opportunity. Last year, we were able to help send 13 8th graders on this once-of-a-lifetime field trip.
